ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir on Monday stressed the importance of student’s role in addressing the challenges facing the country.
Addressing the graduating students of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), the army chief encouraged the students to utilise their intellectual resourcefulness to find innovative solutions.
The annual convocation week of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) commenced at the university’s main campus in Islamabad. Gen Asim, who is also Chairman of the NUST Board of Governors, was the chief guest at the inaugural “Master Convocation Ceremony” and presented medals to distinction holders.
Over the course of convocation week, students from bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programmes were awarded their degrees. In total, more than 3,500 graduates from all NUST schools across seven core disciplines received their degrees on the main campus.
During his address to the graduates, COAS Munir extended his warmest congratulations to the graduates, their parents, and the faculty. He commended NUST for creating an environment conducive to teaching and learning and nurturing brilliant minds ready to contribute to the nation.
The COAS emphasised that education is not just an option but a necessity and that today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the students’ lives, demanding greater responsibility. He urged the graduates to let this newfound responsibility shape their personalities and guide their choices as they embark on their future journeys.
