PESHAWAR: Former deputy speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mahmud Jan, was arrested after a court recalled his bail on Monday. The former deputy speaker and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA from Peshawar, Mahmud Jan, had been charged along with others in a murder case in the Regi Police Station.
He was arrested after the Anti-Terrorism Court cancelled his bail. Earlier, two former members of the previous provincial cabinet Kamran Bangash and Anwar Zeb were arrested from Peshawar and Bajaur, respectively, on Friday.
Police said the cops raided a hujra in Chamkani to arrest Murad Saeed, a former federal minister who was wanted by the police in many cases, but Kamran Bangash and others offered resistance, threatened the cops and helped him escape from the place.
Another former minister, Anwar Zeb, was arrested from Bajaur. Also, three former lawmakers were held from Malakand division over a week back.
Raids were also conducted on the hujras and houses of former MNA from Peshawar Arbab Sher Ali and former MPAs Taimur Jhagra, Fazal Illahi and city president Irfan Saleem. However, they could not be arrested.
