Steps on to eliminate fatal diseases: minister

HAFIZABAD: State Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar has said that the government is taking all possible measures to eliminate fatal diseases, including TB and polio, from the country.
Addressing a seminar to create awareness among the people to adopt preventive measures against TB here on Monday, she said that the government was providing free diagnostic facilities and medicines to TB patients under the TB Dot Programme launched by the government.
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, the minister said that the government would continue to serve the nation despite the hurdles being creating by PTI chief Imran Khan. She said that the PML-N leadership led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was striving to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country. To a question, the minister said that the country had suffered huge loss due to the Dharna politics of Imran Khan and advised him to leave it and work for betterment of the country.
ENROLMENT DRIVE: Parliamentary Secretary for Food Asadullah Arain has said that the Punjab government is committed to promote education in the province.
Addressing a ceremony at the Government Higher Secondary School at Jalalpur Bhattian, he said that more than Rs 55 billion were being spent to establish new educational institutions, upgrade the existing one and provide missing facilities in schools and colleges. He said that special drive was under way in the province to ensure 100 per cent enrolment of children under nine years of ages in the schools. He urged the teachers to perform their duties with passion.
