PML-N reaching out to PPP to counter PTI
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided in principle to approach PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari against PTI's expected reaction to Panama Papers, well placed sources on both sides told The News.
Both sides have contacted each other. PM Nawaz Sharif has decided to assign a special task to JUI F chief Fazulur Rehman in this regard. Rehman will play his role as mediator between PPP and PML-N. The sources said Zardari has decided not to support PTI call for movement on roads and sit-in outside the residence of PM. They said the PPP has some issues with PML-N which need to be settled down.
Sources said Rehman will address PPP’s grievances, adding that the PPP believes parliament is appropriate forum to discuss Panama Papers instead of hitting the roads. Zardari directed the PPP to play its role in the Parliament instead of go on roads or support Nawaz’s resignation. Zardari believes that after thorough investigation, if Nawaz is found guilty, he should submit resignation and PML-N elect its new member as PM.
Sources told The News that Zardari believes in house change to strengthen the parliament, democracy and system instead of mass movements. A close aide of Zardari contacted Punjab Chief Minister and Rehman as well. Rehman will play the pivotal role in bringing the both parties on table.
