Sugarcane growers end sit-in
From Our Correspondent
JHANG: The farmers on Friday ended their sit-in on the second day after successful dialogue with the sugar mill management held on an intervention of DPO Humayun Masood.
The farmers ended the protest after the mill management assured them of paying Rs 25 million in the next two days from the total outstanding amount of the growers. On Thursday, a large number of farmers under the banner of Pakistan Kisan Ittehad staged a sit-in in front of the DCO Office against the mill management for not paying their arrears.
CHILDREN PARK: Boys and girls have started cleaning the Children Park on Dhaji Road as the TMA has so far not started the same despite the DCO orders.
Hamza, Kiran, Sumbal, Waqas, Danial and other youngsters, residents of Dhajji Road and adjacent localities, met DCO Nadir Chattha last month and informed him that the shopkeepers had encroached on the park by parking vehicles, dumping garbage, etc. To it, the DCO visited the park and directed the TMA and Forest Department officials to make the park functional. A month has been lapsed but the park has still not been cleaned. When contacted, DCO Nadir Chattha said that it would be done as promised with the youngsters, otherwise action would be taken against the TMA and Forest Department officials.
