MoU to be signed for free education for wardens’ kids

FAISALABAD: Chief Traffic Officer Arif Shahbaz Khan Wazir Friday said the City Traffic Police would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with top private schools to impart ‘free education’ to children of traffic wardens.
Talking to reporters, the CTO said that an MoU with four leading schools has already been signed while other schools have also shown willingness to sign the MoU in a week.
The CTO said after assuming the charge, he has taken a number of initiatives for the betterment of the traffic personnel.
He said a strong “traffic awareness campaign” would very shortly be launched in Faisalabad and signboards and banners would be displayed to highlight traffic laws.
Regarding the performance of the city traffic police, the CTO said traffic police challaned 64,863 vehicles during the recent campaign and imposed Rs 25.5 million fine on them.
He said some 6,522 vehicle owners were fined over lane’s violation, 7,177 vehicles were impounded and 4,013 motorcyclists were challaned on violation of traffic rules.
The CTO said during the special campaign, the traffic police arrested 31 drivers over rules violation.
