MULTAN: Sindhi and Seraiki nationalists have demanded creation of Seraiki province and indiscriminate operation against terrorism across the country.
They were addressing a seminar on the third death anniversary of Pakistan Seraiki Party founder Taj Langah at the press club here on Thursday. They paid tributes to Langah for working for the cause of the oppressed people.
Speaking on the occasion, PSP chairperson Dr Nukhba Taj Langah said that Taj Langah was not only a great politician but also a loving father. She appealed to all Seraiki political factions to join hands with the PSP in the wider interest of the Seraiki cause.
Awami Jamhoori Party Planning Commission chairman Amnaullah Sheikh demanded Seraiki province on the basis of cultural and lingual identity. He said that the Punjab Assembly should honour the resolution passed for the establishment of the Seraiki province. He said that the PML-N and the PPP were playing with the Seraiki people and depriving the region of its rights and development. He rejected the PML-N stance of allocating lions’ share in the budget for south Punjab, adding Seraiki language, culture and identity had been at stake.
Amanullah Sheikh underlined the need for unity between Sindhi and Seraiki nationalists to expedite the struggle for their rights. He said that the unity among enlightened political workers in Sindh and Seraiki region can effectively launch a campaign to protect the cultural values.
Sindh United Party information secretary Idrees Chandio, writer Haider Javed Syed, PSP chief organiser Mansoor Karim, PSP vice-president Hassan Raza Bokhari, Malik Shafqat and others also spoke on the occasion.
