Farmers stage demo against mill

JHANG: A large number of farmers under the banner of the Pakistan Kisan Ittehad staged a sit-in against a sugar mill in front of the district complex here on Thursday.
They also blocked all roads leading to the DCO and DPO offices. The protesting farmers with tractor-trolleys completely blocked the main gate of the district complex. The farmers alleged that the sugar mill was not paying their Rs 700 million arrears. They demanded the district administration order the mill to pay arrears to the farmers. The sit-in was under way till the filing of the report. Pakistan Kisan Ittehad district chairman Abuzar Bharwana, provincial secretary general Safdar Naol and others addressed the protesters.
GIRL KILLED ON ROAD: A girl was killed and another injured in an accident on Jhang-Gojra Road near Chak 447 on Thursday.
Kiran and her friend Sawera were crossing a road when a van hit them. As a result, Kiran died on the spot while Sawera was seriously injured. The injured girl was shifted to the DHQ Hospital. In another incident, a motorcycle-rickshaw overturned on Massan Road. As a result, five people were injured.
