KARACHI: Mushtaq Ahmed’s sabbatical from national duty ends on Friday (today) when he will begin supervising a week-long ‘specialised’ camp for spinners at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

The former Pakistan Test spinner, who was the national team’s bowling coach before given a ‘rest’ for the Asia Cup and World Twenty20 championship, will impart specialised coaching to 12 leading spinners of the country.

The list includes Pakistan premier leggie Yasir Shah, who was banned for three months in February after testing positive for a banned substance. He became available for national duty late last month. Other prominent bowlers who have been included in the camp by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) include Imad Wasim, Mohammad Nawaz and Bilal Asif.

In a statement issued on Thursday, PCB announced that the camp will conclude on April 14.

“The bowlers will be imparted technical, tactical and Physical training skills during this camp and lectures from cricket icons will also be arranged for the players during the programme,” the statement said.

“The performance of above stated bowlers will be monitored during the upcoming Pentangular domestic tournament and on the basis of outcomes from this endeavor; a comprehensive specialised programme will be arranged for spin bowlers later on,” it concluded.

The players who will be attending the camp are: Yasir Shah, Zafar Gohar, Arsal Sh., Muhammad Asghar, Karamat Ali, Immad Wasim, Muhammad Nawaz, Bilal Asif, Hayat Ullah, Shadab Khan, Salman Fayyaz and Ahmad Shafiq.
