The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a fresh rain spell in the country, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, on the coming weekend.
According to weatherman Muhammad Farooq, a westerly wave is likely to enter Pakistan on Friday evening and thus, causing rainfall from Saturday to Monday.
He said under the influence of the imminent new weather system, Islamabad and upper parts of Punjab including Sargodha, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions were expected to have rains coupled with strong winds between Saturday and Monday.
The PMD official said there was likelihood of thundershowers falling at scattered place in Fata, upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat and Bannu divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Friday night to Monday.
He said rainfall was also expected in northeast Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi and Naseerabad divisions, between Friday evening and Sunday, and in D I Khan, D G Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore and Sahiwal divisions during Saturday and Sunday.
The weatherman warned heavy rains could trigger further landslides in Malakand and Hazara divisions of Khyber Pakhutnkhwa, and parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
