‘PPP losing Haris vote bank in Sindh’

From Our Correspondent

MULTAN: The Awami Jamhoori Party has criticised the Sindh government for its poor performance and governance.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, AJP planning commission chairman Amanullah Sheikh said that the PPP was losing the committed Haris (peasants) vote bank in Sindh due to their financial exploitation. He said that the Haris took a sigh of relief after PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari went abroad. Amanullah Sheikh alleged that PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari exploited sugarcane growers. He further alleged that the PPP government had broken all corruption records. He said that the PPP future depended on the response of Sindhi nationalists and enlightened parties. He claimed that the Sindh government had stopped and discontinued all types of subsidies to the peasants. He feared wheat growers in Sindh would soon take to the streets because of less wheat prices.

Amanullah Sheikh paid rich tributes to Pakistan Seraiki Party founder Taj Langha. He demanded creation of fifth province, consisting of Seraiki people on cultural, lingual and historical grounds. He rejected creation of provinces on administrative grounds. To a question, Amanullah Sheikh said the politics of Mustafa Kamal is a part of the MQM overhauling and he would soon rejoin it.

Amanullah Sheikh had reached Multan from Karachi to attend the third death anniversary of Pakistan Seraiki Party founder Taj Langha, which is scheduled to be held at the press club today.
