Inquiry ordered against two cops
for beating patient, his relative

JHANG: District Police Officer Humayun Masood on Wednesday directed Inspector Hayat Sargana to hold an inquiry against two policemen of Ashaba police patrolling post on the charges of beating and keeping two people, including a patient, in illegal detention for hours and snatching the motorcycle from them.
Muhammad Bhutta, a resident of Chak 475/JB, met the DPO and gave him an application, stating that he and his relative Muhammad Rafaqat, a head injury patient, were going to the DHQ Hospital when two policemen Munawar and Altaf stopped them near Toba Bypass and demanded documents of the motorcycle from them.
The complainant alleged when he gave them registration book of the motorcycle, the policemen started talking on their mobile phones. He said that when his relative Rafaqat asked the policemen to allow them to go, they allegedly started beating them. He said that the accused policemen dragged them in a police vehicle and left the place. Later, the accused policemen released and dropped them on Toba Road. However, the accused policemen escaped with their motorcycle.
The complainant appealed to the DPO to recover the motorcycle and register a case against the accused policemen. Meanwhile, patient Rafaqat was shifted to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.
