Different rules
The way the PML-N government has let Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf go abroad shows their real intentions. They did not appeal the Supreme Court verdict though he was facing a high treason case. To shift the blame on the Supreme Court is totally unjustified because the SC bench repeatedly asked the federal government to present its point of view, which it did not do.
The most disturbing part of the episode is that no written guarantee was sought for his return. Can the government or the judiciary quote a single instance where people have been let off on bail without any personal and monetary guarantees? This shows that the application of laws in this country is discriminatory – there is one set of rules for ordinary people and whole different one for the mighty.
