Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement senator Dr Mohammed Ali Brohi and other dissident members of the party joined the ex-Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) on Monday.

With Brohi’s induction, the number of dissident MQM leaders in the PSP has increased to seven.

Besides Brohi, several MQM activists who had served as zonal members, zonal-in-charges, and sector in-charges also joined the party, Kamal told reporters.

Welcoming Brohi into the PSP fold, Kamal said the response of Sindh towards his party proved that time was near when enmities in the the province would come to an end.

“I especially want to caution my Sindhi brethren not to pay heed to Altaf Hussain’s demand for a separate province,” he said.

“The MQM keeps playing the ‘Mohajir card’ time and again.”

Brohi was an MQM senator from 2004 to 2009 and had won the by-election for the Senate seat which had fallen vacant after sudden death of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Pakistan chief Moulana Shah Ahmed Noorani.

Brohi is the nephew of former central law minister AK Brohi.

Kamal went on to say that his party would spread its message of unity across Pakistan to sot out differences among people.

“We want to hand over pens to the future generations and want to establish a society where peace and tolerance will prevail,” he added.

Brohi, speaking on the occasion, said an ethnic divide was deliberately created and rifts between Urdu-speaking and Sindhi-speaking people were visible.

“We are here to remove these differences,” he added and invited people from different communities and ethnic groups to strengthen the PSP.

Brohi said Altaf Hussain forced members of the Urdu-speaking community to become RAW agents for his vested interests

Kamal announced that his party would stage a political gathering on April 24 and this would be a milestone in the history of the country.

He added that the party would soon inaugurate several offices in the province including one in Karachi.

“Our party’s main focus is the devolution of powers to improve the infrastructure and facilities.”

Advocate Anis, a PSP leader, told The News that his party would come up with more “surprises” within two or three days when more key figures would join it.
