Musharraf warned of non-bailable arrest warrants

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge, Islamabad, Sohail Ikram, during the course of hearing into the judges detention case against Pervez Musharraf remarked that the attitude of former president for appearing in the court was not right and observed as to why the court should not issue his non-bailable arrest warrants.
The ATC judge, Islamabad, took up for hearing the judges detention case against former president Pervez Musharraf on Friday.Ilyas Siddqui, counsel for Pervez Musharraf, could not appear in the court and his junior lawyer Rana Jamil and public before the court. Counsel for Pervez Musharraf told the court that senior lawyer Ilyas Siddiqui who was to complete his arguments on the petition seeking permanent exemption for Pervez Musharraf from attendance in the court was engaged in a case in the Supreme Court. Therefore, he requested the court to adjourn the hearing of the case.
The judge while expressing resentment remarked that judges’ detention case had been pending in the court for one and a half years and counsel for the former president was not completing his arguments nor the petition seeking permanent exemption for former president was being debated.The court while accepting plea for exemption of one day from court attendance in respect of Pervez Musharraf adjourned the hearing of the case till February, 27.
