It is difficult to understand whether politicians are in a compulsive habit of making false promises or if their sincere efforts are being sabotaged by bureaucrats. It has been generally observed that whenever ministers say something publicly for people’s welfare, just the opposite gets done.
For example, the minister of state for water and power has declared that loadshedding would be observed for six hours in cities and eight hours in rural areas. As soon as he said this, the authorities concerned started switching off electricity for three hours after every two hours of power supply in Muzaffargarh, whereas in rural areas the situation is much worse. The ministers concerned are requested not to declare their policies so openly and blatantly if they lack the power to get them enforced.
