Farmers urged to take advantage
of websites developed by UAF
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Agriculture experts Saturday urged farmers to take advantage of two websites developed by the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) to enhance their produce at lower cost.
Sargodha Agriculture University Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Afzal called on farmers during his visit. The UAF has taken a revolutionary step to utilise the state-of-art ICT means to disseminate information among the farming community. The varsity has developed soil test based fertilizer prediction models to predict required amount of N and P for desired yield of major crops. He said farmers could use these prediction models to determine the actual amount of nitrogen and phosphorus for desired yield of wheat, cotton, sugarcane, rice and maize crops. For this purpose, farmers can visit the website: www.fertilizeruaf.pk at computer or mobile phone. These models have been developed because of untiring hard work and efforts of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in collaboration with Punjab Agriculture Department. The project principal investigator Prof Dr Muhammad Rashid said the varsity has developed fertilizer models and income increasing plans for peasants.
