ISLAMABAD: Financial irregularities worth Rs 5 billion have been revealed in the Federal Board of Revenue (Customs), Geo News reported.
According to the report, due to non-collection of full tax on imported goods, there has been a loss of Rs3.52 billion, while irregularities, misappropriation and theft of Rs1.45 billion have been found in warehouses.
The report said that smuggled vehicles, smartphones and food items were left in warehouses and spoiled. A loss of Rs807.1 million has incurred due to non-auction of 300 seized vehicles and 46,982 smartphones worth Rs18.86 million rupees were also not auctioned. Other goods worth more than Rs420 million including food and drinks were also destroyed and the staff sold 3 vehicles worth Rs Rs24m for Rs13m. According to the report, goods worth Rs9.1m were also stolen from warehouses in Karachi and Quetta.
