ISLAMABAD: Outraged by lack of resistance to block the passage of the recent Army Act (Amendment) Bill from the Senate, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to investigate and fix responsibility for this sorry state of affairs.

According to PTI’s official Twitter account, the party Chairman Imran Khan presided over a core committee meeting, during which the role of PTI senators in the passage of amendments to the act was discussed.

The PTI chairman gave approval for a probe into the role of party members in the passing of the amendments and a one-member commission was constituted for a comprehensive investigation.

PTI Senator Shibli Faraz has been assigned the task of investigating into the matter, and he would present his findings to the PTI chief. And, in the light of his recommendations, further action would be taken against those found to have deviated from the party policy.

In a related development, through a notification, Senator Barrister Syed Ali Zafar has been appointed PTI’s parliamentary leader in the Upper House of Parliament.

PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan issued a formal notification in this regard on Saturday, after the PTI chairman accorded approval to this new development.
