BARA: Local elders and political leaders settled a feud between two influential families in Bara tehsil of the Khyber tribal district here on Sunday.
The feud between the two families had claimed the lives of prominent lawyer Abdul Lateef Afridi (late), judge Aftab Afridi and several others from both sides in the last six years.
The judge, Aftab Afridi, was murdered while travelling in a vehicle on the Motorway along with his wife, daughter-in-law and grandson while Abdul Lateef Afridi was killed inside the Peshawar High Court.
Local elders and political leaders, including Awami National Party’s Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Shahji Gul Afridi, Shahabuddin Khan, Imran Afridi, Abdul Razzaq Afridi, Qaumi Watan Party leader Hashim Babar, former MPA Shafiq Afridi, Peshawar Mayor Zubair Ali, former MNA Nasir Khan, Malik Waris Khan, Malik Muhammad Hussain, Malik Darya Khan and others were present on the occasion where the two families were reconciled.
The jirga members said the dispute had started over some issue between the two families. The settlement of the dispute through peaceful means was their mission which they achieved The elders from both sides pardoned each other and announced to live in peace in future.
They said they had left behind the past bitterness for the sake of the future of their younger generations.The local people appreciated the efforts of all jirga members, especially Abdul Razzaq Afridi, who is known as the ambassador of peace.
They said that Abdul Razzaq Afridi had resolved several feuds that had previously claimed numerous lives.Later, the local elders and political leaders placed a turban on the head of Abdul Razzaq Afridi to recognize his role in resolving conflicts.
