PTDC opens summer resorts

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation has opened its summer resorts in snowfall areas ahead of schedule this year to facilitate nature lovers.

While talking to media persons, PTDC Motels General Manager Chaudhry Aziz-ud-Din Tahir said Thursday that hotels and motels in Skardu, Astak, Ayubia, Gupis, Miandam had already been opened, while Hunza, Kalam, Khaplu, Mastuj would be opened next month.

He said motels at Besham, Birmoglasht, Chitral, Gilgit, Naran, Saidu Sharif had also been made operational.

The general manager said the PTDC's initiative to introduce Pakistan Tourism Friends Club for the promotion of tourism has been received warmly.

He said that 20 per cent discount would be given to the members on the facilities being provided at all hotels, motels, and tourist resorts operating across the country. 

In the meantime, ‘The News’ learnt reliably that the two year contract period of PTDC Managing Director Ch. Kabir Ahmed, would expire on April 6, 2016.

However, a large number of employees, demanded off the federal government particularly Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to extend his tenure further. They praising his efforts made for the promotion of tourism in the country besides raising its image abroad said that Ch. Kabir Ahmed Khan had also sincerely enforced measures for the welfare of employees as a result of which their salaries dues have minimized with passage of time.

Expressing confidence, the employees hoped that on the extension of service of Ch. Kabir Ahmed as managing director, the issue of their dues would be resolved on permanent basis.
