LAHORE

The unserious attitude of the legislators led to the adjournment of the Punjab Assembly's session  on Thursday without completion of its agenda.

Having failed to meet the quorum, the PA was unable to hold pre- budget debate and Speaker Rana Mohammed Iqbal Khan adjourned the session till Friday.

The PA session, which started with the delay of an hour with Speaker Rana Mohammed Iqbal Khan in the chair, had to conduct the question-hour session related to the irrigation, youth, sports and archaeology.

However, due to the absence of questioners as well as ministers and parliamentary secretaries concerned, most of the questions were disposed of and the question-hour session came to an end. Most of the adjournment motions were also made pending due to the absence of ministers or parliamentary secretaries concerned, which annoyed the Speaker who strictly directed all the departments to ensure presence of officials and legislators concerned during the session.

Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Finance Minister Punjab, started pre- budget debate for the year 2016-17 and speaking on the floor of the House, she said under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, growth strategy had been formulated to boost the economy, create the opportunities for the youth, encourage trade and investment in the province.

She also appealed the legislators to come up with poor oriented and public friendly suggestions during the pre-budget session.  Later, Saadia Sohail of the PTI pointed out the quorum after which the session was adjourned.
