Report sought

From Our Correspondent

JHANG: Taking notice of the protest of growers from Chak 177 last week, the Punjab Irrigation Department secretary has sought a report from the executive engineer besides action against the landlord who allegedly broke official water source.

When contacted, Executive Engineer Sheikh Tahir said the complaint about breaking official water source of the village had been confirmed through a report. He said control of irrigation water sources had been given to farmers organisation area chairman in the new irrigation system. He, however, said the decision of farmers body chairman would be submitted to the Chairman Area Water Board, an appellate authority in the case, to avoid further breaking of official irrigation water sources.

PUNISHMENT: DPO Humayun Masood on Wednesday issued punishment orders for 74 officials of different ranks.

According to a press release, inspectors, sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables, and constable rank officials have been awarded different punishments on the charges of poor performance and absenteeism.
