Killer gets death, fine

BAHAWALPUR: Chishtian Additional Sessions Judge Muzammil Musa on Wednesday awarded death sentence and Rs 200,000 fine to a man in a murder case.
According to prosecution, Muhammad Shabbir and Muhammad Javed had murdered Safarish Ali in the limits of Shehr Fareed police in April 2014. The court awarded 10 years imprisonment and Rs 120,000 fine to Muhammad Javed in the case.
34 POS HELD IN SEARCH OPERATION: Police on Wednesday arrested 34 proclaimed offenders during a search operation conducted in different areas of Bahawalpur district.
According to the Bahawalpur DPO Office spokesman, 170 people were taken into custody and interrogated during the search operation and out of which 34 POs were identified while others were released on personal sureties. However, nine persons were being interrogated, he added.
