Islamia Club (B) win table tennis title
KARACHI: Islamia Club (B) team won All Karachi Pakistan Day Inter-Club table tennis tournament defeating Islamia Club (A) team in the final by three straight sets 3-0 to claim the title here at DA Sunset Club.
On the final day, four teams including Essa Laboratory (A) and (B) along with Islamia Club (A) and (B) progressed into the semi-finals where both Islamia Club teams made it to the finals. In the final match, the team with young players — Islamia Club (B) — defeated (A) by 3-0.
In the first match of final tie, Aahil Shah defeated Kamran Sarang by 11-8, 11-9, 7-11 and 11-8 score.
Salman Saleem sealed triumph for Islamia Club (B) after defeating Tabish Khursheed by 11-9, 11-9, 7-11 and 11-8 score. In the dead rubber match, Ahmer confirmed that Islamia Club (B) whitewashes the senior team, beating Usman by 11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 9-11 and 11-9 score.
President of Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) Syed Sibtain Naqvi and secretary of DA Sunset Club Cornel Naeem Azhar distributed award of Rs 15000 to the winners and Rs 10000 to the runners-up.
“PTTF will always work on promoting the game throughout the nation. To fetch out the talent from grass root level a program with the name of Hopes have been initiated. According to it the players from Under-12 to Under-20 will be fetched,” said Naqvi.
