LANDIKOTAL: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a polio supervisor in Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency on Saturday night, officials said.
A local resident, on the condition of anonymity, told The News that around 8:45pm three masked persons came to Akhtar Khan’s health outlet in Ashrafkhel village and opened fire on him. He received several bullets on his head and chest. He was rushed to the Agency Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
When contacted, Assistant Political Agent Rahimullah Khan Mahsud said the alleged killer identified as Hayatullah, who had been nominated by the son of the deceased person, was arrested and shifted to the lock-up for interrogation.
Three killed in Shangla road accident: Three persons were killed on Saturday as a passenger van plunged into the stream in Shangla, police officials said.
They said the driver lost control over the steering while negotiating a turn and the vehicle fell into the stream near Karora. As a result, the police said, two passengers identified as Sher Zada, Izzatmand Khan and Niaz Ali, the driver, were killed. They said the locals fished out the bodies of Sher Zada and Izzatmand in Marin area while the search for the body of Niaz Ali was going on till our going to the press.
