Yasin Malik arrested; Shabbir, Sehrai put under house arrest

HELD SRINAGAR Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Ali Geelani has said that the Kashmiris are struggling for their basic right and will succeed in their mission at the end of the day. Syed Ali Geelani in a statement issued in Srinagar said the freedom movements in any part of the world cannot be time bound, nor do they become irrelevant due to prolonged period but till date no freedom struggle has remained unsuccessful. Terming the stance adopted by Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on Kashmir as based on truth and reality, Syed Ali Geelani said that people had high morale and would never give up their genuine struggle for right to self-determination despite India’s excesses in the territory. Geelani said India has no constitutional or moral right to control Jammu and Kashmir with its military might.Meanwhile, the authorities in Indian occupied Kashmir have arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shoukat Bakhshi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with several other JKLF and Hurriyat activists. Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested in his house and lodged at Kothi Bagh police station in Srinagar.The authorities also placed Hurriyat leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Ayaz Akbar Butt under house arrest. The detentions were made by the authorities in the wake of a shutdown call given by Syed Ali Geelani for February 9 and 11 to mark the anniversaries of martyrs Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt. The residences of several Hurriyat leaders and activists were raided and many were detained and locked up at different police stations and jails.Syed Ali Geelani has condemned the action and termed it as frustration of the administration.
