Cops punished for poor performance

JHANG: DPO Humayun Masood has punished several police officials for poor performance, absenteeism and on other charges.
According to a press release, Sadr SHO Inspector Khadim Hussain, Inspector Qaisar Younis, sub-inspectors Muhammad Yar, Muhammad Riaz and Abdul Ghaffar and ASI Mazhar Hussain have been issued warning letters for poor performance. The DPO has withdrawn departmental service of ASI Mazhar Hussain for two years, ASI Muhammad Aslam for one year and SI Liaqat Ali and ASI Adalat Khan for one month. The DPO has also issued warnings letters and withheld salaries of 13 head constables and constables for being absent.
Meanwhile, taking notice of the complaint of a businessman, District Police Officer Humayun Masood directed the Sadr SHO to ensure arrest of nominated accused wanted by police in a case since 2006. The DPO also sought an urgent report regarding progress of investigations besides personal appearance of the investigation officer and the SHO.
Businessman Sheikh Kashif Javed appeared before the DPO and stated that Sheikh Adil of Chiniot had purchased diesel and petrol from his agency and allegedly gave him a fake cheque amounting to Rs 164,000. He said that police registered a case against the accused on September 8, 2006. Complainant Kashif alleged that he had been wandering in the police station for justice since 2006.
