Industrialist, family rescued after abduction nightmare

Three suspects killed in Ibrahim Hyderi shootout

Karachi 

The Crime Investigation Agency rescued an abducted industrialist and his wife and daughter, and killed three kidnappers in an encounter in the Ibrahim Hyderi area on Friday.

DIG Abdul Khalique Shaikh of the CIA said the owner of Pak Land Cement, Rehan, his wife, Riffat, and their three-year-old daughter, Arfa, had been travelling in a car in the Defence area three days ago when they were kidnapped.

The kidnappers demanded Rs25 million for the release of the family and threatened them with dire consequences if they failed to pay ransom amount.

DIG Shaikh said an investigation team, tasked with ensuring safe recovery of the family, was negotiating with the suspects when, in the wee hours of Friday, its members were tipped off about their presence in a house in Ibrahim Hyderi.

During a raid on the house, three policemen suffered injuries as they came under attack from the kidnappers. In the retaliatory fire, three suspects were wounded. The family members were recovered safely.

The casualties were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the suspects died from theiqar wounds. 

DIG Shaikh said the police found TT pistols on the dead, who were identified as Qasim, Bilal and Usman. 

 

Two suspects killed

In an afternoon encounter, Al-Falah police gunned down two alleged criminals near Chaudhry Mazhar Thallah. 

SHO Ahsan Channa said a police mobile was patrolling the area when they spotted the two outlaws robbing citizens.

The police warned the suspects to surrender, but they opened fire instead. The police fired back and arrested them in an injured condition. 

The injured, identified as Anwer and Asif, were taken to the JPMC, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The police also claimed seizing two pistols, a motorcycle and looted items.
