Farmers welcome CM’s Kisan package

FAISALABAD: A Kisan convention was held at the Ayub Agriculture Research Institute under the arrangements of the Agriculture Department for consultation regarding important points of the CM’s Kisan package with farmers and other stakeholders.
The farmers and other stakeholders welcomed the package and gave proposals and opinions to make it more comprehensive. They said that the CM had announced unprecedented package for development of agriculture and prosperity of the farmers, which would help to boost the agriculture economy.
The parliamentarians, including Haji Khalid Saeed and Naeemullah Gill, said that the government had taken a number of steps for welfare and prosperity of the farmers and the announcement of Rs 100 billion Kisan package by the CM was a revolutionary decision to increase per acre yield. They advised the participants for taking full advantage of the Kisan package for strengthening the agriculture sector.
Acting DCO Ejaz Khaliq Razaqi said that the convention had been arranged for seeking suggestions of farmers and other stakeholders and the recommendations made in this convention would be forwarded to the Punjab government for formulation of solid agriculture policy.
Agriculture EDO Ch Abdul Hameed said that the Agriculture Department was mobilising all its resources for betterment of the farmers and boosting the agriculture production.
During the convention, important points/decisions made during the Punjab agriculture conference held on March 19 came under discussion, including provision of quality seeds, reduction in cost of production of crops specifying inputs/services, agri marketing reforms, mechanism for stability in prices of agriculture commodities, encouraging farmers cooperatives, regulatory/institutional framework/reforms for improvement, interventions of govt to promote mechanisation in agriculture and enhancing productivity in existing crops.
Officers of livestock, irrigation, water management, food, fisheries and forest departments were also present on the occasion.
