The Supreme Court on Thursday disposed of suo motu proceedings against non-arrest of culprit(s) involved in rape of a minor girl of Mughalpura as the police failed to come up with any progress in the case.SSP Investigation Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera accompanied by other police officers appeared before a two-judge bench headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar with no clue to real culprit(s) involved in the 2013 rape incident.
Additional Advocate General Arif Raja told the bench that police interrogated about 350 suspects and also took their DNA samples but none of them was found guilty. He said the police were determined to take the case to its logical end and putting real efforts to arrest the real suspect.
Justice Saqib Nisar regretted that enough time was given to the police for the arrest of the culprits but it failed. The judge disposed of the suo motu proceedings and directed the police to continue its efforts and inform the court in case of any progress in the case.
The SSP Investigation said the police would not stop its efforts and inform the court whenever the suspect was arrested.
A five-year-old girl had gone missing in September 2013, while she was playing in street and was later found lying outside Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in a critical condition.
