Two men riding a motorcycle lobbed a bomb at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on Thursday. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

The impact of the blast, however, shattered the windowpanes of the police station, while also damaging a few vehicles parked outside.

According to Gulshan-e-Iqbal SHO Safdar Mashwani, an official standing guard at the station did fire at the attackers, but they managed to flee.

An official of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said the explosive was locally manufactured and weighed around 500 grams.

The attack comes amidst a series of grenade attacks on Rangers check-posts in separate areas over the past few weeks.

On March 22, four men had lobbed a cracker bomb at a Rangers check-post in Sector-2 ½ of Korangi, the fourth one attacked in the city as three check-posts were attacked with bombs prior to that – at Korangi Crossing on March 18 in which three soldiers were hurt, and in PIB Colony and Gulshan-e-Iqbal on March 13.
