Achakzai urges Pakhtuns to exhibit unity
Warns against meddling in Afghanistan’s internal affairs; ANP leader, activists join PkMAP
SWABI: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai on Wednesday urged the Pakhtuns to exhibit unity to foil the conspiracies hatched against them.
“Pakhtuns are true patriots and they must be given their due status in the country,” he told a public meeting at Shewa Adda here.Central and provincial leaders and party activists from all over the district and other parts of Khyber Paktunhkhwa attended the gathering.
Arshad Khan advocate, former chairman of Awami National Party organising committee along with several workers of different political parties announced joining the PkMAP on the occasion. Arshad Khan had worked as provincial finance secretary of ANP and president of District Bar Association Swabi.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that the Pakhtuns laid down their lives for the country on numerous occasions but these sacrifices were not acknowledged in the past.“We would never stop our struggle for Pakhtuns rights because this is one of our main objectives,” the PkMAP chief added. He said Pakhtuns have a right to their resources while upholding the principle of fraternity and brotherhood. “We want to make it clear that the usurping of our resources is not acceptable to us,” he said.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai also warned against mistreating the Pakhtuns in other cities of Pakistan. “Only true democracy, rule of law and justice can ensure the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan. A household cannot be held together without justice let alone a country,” he maintained.
About situation in Afghanistan, he said that peace could be restored in the war-ravaged country only if the neighbouring countries stop meddling in its internal affairs.“There is every possibility that the insecurity in Afghanistan would spill over to the neighbouring states,” he warned.
“The Afghan crisis had already weakened Pakistan’s economic progress and harmed its security,” he maintained.PkMAP district president Ikram Khan, general secretary Mubashir Khan and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
