Woman burnt to death for not bringing bike in dowry

GUJRANWALA: A woman was burnt to death by her husband and in-laws for not bringing their desired dowry at Nowshera Virkan.
Amir with his mother Naheed allegedly doused his wife Madeeha, a resident of Pasrur, in petrol and set her on fire for not bringing a motorcycle in dowry. As a result, she received serious burns. She was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where she died. Police have registered a case and arrested accused Amir.
FRAUD CASE ORDERED: ACE Director Rana Abdul Shakoor on Tuesday issued orders to register a fraud case against six persons.
In an application, Abdul Rashid alleged that stamp paper seller Waris along with his five companions prepared a fake stamp paper for transferring his property.
Meanwhile, the ACE director issued orders to arrest Patwari Iftikhar Goshi and Sub-Inspector Ejaz Ahmad for receiving bribe from the citizens. He issued the orders after an inquiry against them in which the allegation proved.
Peaceful polling in NA-101 by-poll

GUJRANWALA: Voting for by-election in NA-101, Wazirabad, ended peacefully at 5pm on Tuesday.
The polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm without any break. Policemen and armymen were deployed in and outside the polling stations to avoid any untoward incident. Counting of votes was under way till the filing of the report.
