CHARSADDA: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an alleged militant and recovered arms and ammunition from him, officials said.
They said the action was carried out on information that a militant affiliated with the proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was present in the Tangi area and planning an attack.They said the officials of the CTD raided a house and arrested the alleged militant Ishaq alias Yousuf, a resident of Shabqadar.
They said the CTD officials also recovered a hand-grenade, a pistol and ammunition from his possession.The officials said the militant had joined the TTP in 2010 and received training at a camp in Afghanistan.
They said on completion of his training, the militants then returned to Charsadda and used to collect donations and demand extortions for the TTP.The officials said that the militant also used to work as a facilitator for the militants of the TTP in various acts of sabotage. The alleged militant was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
