Bodies of two women to be exhumed tomorrow
Honour killing
MANSEHRA: District and Sessions judge in Mansehra on Saturday fixed March 21 for exhumation of bodies of two women from Kohistan who were killed allegedly by family members under the pretext of honour and buried secretly in a graveyard in Sher Khanabad area here on Friday.
Mohammad Javed, Station House Officer of the City Police Station in Mansehra, told reporters the police had moved an application to district and sessions judge. The force had sought permission for exhuming the bodies. The permission was granted and March 21 fixed for the purpose. A team of lady doctor and magistrate would perform postmortem on the spot.
The police official said both the women, killed allegedly in the name of honour, were in early 20s. One was married off some six months ago.
He said perpetrators who were suspecting relations of the killed women with a man from Kohistan, also wanted to kill the man along with victims but he did not show up on the occasion.
Police had arrested one Haji Ahmad Khan and his nephews Sherzada and Noorur Rehman on Friday for the crime. The station house officer said that police would remain deployed at graves until exhumation was done.
“We are taking this case as a priority as we don’t allow anybody to kill women in the name of so-called honour and it is why three men involved in killing have been arrested and would be taken to justice under strict relevant laws,” said the police official.
