Musharraf refuses to return in black and white
Govt wanted ex-president to assure in writing his return after treatment
ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf refused to assure the government in black and white that he will come back home after medical treatment abroad; however, he verbally promised that he would return.
The government wanted a written assurance from Musharraf that he would return after medical treatment.
The former president got his ticket on Thursday morning and his protocol staff reached the airport a few minutes before his arrival. The immigration authorities told the staff that Musharraf could not leave for abroad as his name was still on the ECL. It has been learnt that Musharraf has not been put off the ECL permanently rather he was allowed to go abroad for medical treatment.
During a meeting at the Prime Minister House, the party leaders suggested that the former president should be allowed once to go abroad for medical treatment instead of permanently removing his name from the ECL.
