3 arrested in woman burning case in Haripur

HARIPUR: Three persons were arrested in connection with the death of a woman here on Wednesday, police said.

Kot Najibullah police quoted Alam Zeb, father of the deceased, as saying that his daughter was married to one Shariq. He told the police that his daughter often complained about the rude behaviour of her husband and in-laws. Alam Zeb, who hailed from Mardan, but had settled in Tareenabad village in Haripur, said he received a call on February 25 that his daughter had been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in a critical condition.

The man said the doctors at the hospital referred his daughter to the Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad, where she recorded her statement after regaining consciousness. She told the police that her husband and her in-laws had set her ablaze after dousing her with petrol. Later, she succumbed to her injuries. The police registered a case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the accused, Shariq, his father Suleman and mother.
