QUETTA: Unknown armed men kidnapped seven coalminers in the Sorenge area of the provincial capital on Tuesday.
Police sources said the militants kidnapped seven miners belonging to the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation. However, the kidnappers later freed two coalminers and took the other victims to nearby mountains.
“Five coalminers are still with the kidnappers,” police said, adding that the number of kidnappers was yet to be confirmed.Personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) and police reached the site and launched a search operation to recover the hostages.There was no claim of responsibility for the kidnapping.
Meanwhile, unknown armed men gunned down a man and his son over an old enmity in the Bala Nari area of Kachhi district.According to the Levies force, the victims, Atta Muhammad and his son Asadullah, were on way home when three armed assailants riding a motorbike opened fire on them in Goth Misri area.As a result, the man and his son died on the spot.
