From Our Correspondent
BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of woman activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami district chapter rejected the Women Protection Bill in a party convention held in connection with the International Women’s Day here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, JI Parliamentary Leader in Punjab Assembly Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar said that Pakistan was an Islamic country. He said that the bill was passed in haste and it was against the Islamic values. He said that the bill would disintegrate families, besides damaging the social values and this was the reason that no religious party was supporting it. The JI leader said that it would have been better that the bill should have been sent to the Islamic Ideology Council before tabling it in the Punjab Assembly.
JI Women Wing district nazima Dr Samina Rohi and Bahawalpur city nazima Farah rejected the Women Protection Bill. They said that the bill was passed by the Punjab Assembly just to please the foreign masters and it would disintegrate the family system.
