Protesters seek release of Dr Afia
PESHAWAR: A protest was held here on Sunday demanding release of Dr Afia Siddiqui who is imprisoned in the United States for the last several years.
Led by Fauzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr Afia Siddiqui, the protesters held banners and placards demanding the release of Dr Afia.
They gathered outside Peshawar Press Club despite rain and chanted slogans in favour of Dr Afia Siddiqui. The protesters asked the government to take practical steps for the release of Dr Afia. They criticised the US for its double standards of human rights by punishing an “innocent lady”.
They resolved to continue the struggle till release of daughter of the nation and raise voice against US atrocities. The protesters urged the civil society and human rights organisations to raise voice for the release of Dr Afia Siddiqui.
