KARACHI: Fishermen Cooperative Society Chairman Nisar Morai has been arrested by intelligence agencies in Islamabad. He is facing charges of financial assistant to terrorists, illegal appointments and supply of money of Fisheries Department to influential people.
Sources said he had been off the screen for a long time and now the agencies have shifted him to an undisclosed location. He is a close aide to an influential personality of Sindh. Sources said he used to deliver money to influential personalities monthly and has shifted Rs800 million to Canada.
NAB sources said that he used to earn Rs350 million from the Society monthly. Some circles rate his arrest highly after the arrest of Uzair Baloch. Sources said that 300 of 650 employees of the society are not present, while they have been issued salaries and allowances regularly.
The Society administration has decided not to issue these ghost employees salaries. FIA has found some evidence of kickbacks and extortion and seized record thereof.
