AKU clinch basketball title after thrilling climax
KARACHI: Aga Khan University successfully defended AKU Inter Collegiate/University girls basketball tournament title after defeating Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) in a thrilling final by 15-14 here at the Sports Centre Gymnasium on Wednesday.
DUHS led the first set by 7-6 but the hosts bounced back in the second half and after a tough battle recorded a narrow 15-14 win. Aman Siddiqi scored five points, while Sunniya Shaukat and Aqsa Khalid scored four points each. For DUHS, Meeshal Khan scored six points, while Elaina Butt scored four points.
Ayesha Tariq of AKU was declared the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Tournament, while Elaina Butt of DUHS, Maha Bhagat of Nixor College, Tooba Javaid of BUMDC and Sunniya Shaukat of AKU were presented special consolation prizes for their excellent performance.
