PIMS to have new emergency by March 23
Islamabad: The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University-Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (SZABMU-PIMS) will have a new Emergency Ward by March 23. Construction work on the project, which commenced only last month, has been expedited on the directives of Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
According to the hospital’s spokesman Dr. Waseem Khawaja, a daily progress report regarding the new emergency is now to be shared with the Prime Minister, with the intent that the facility be readied by March 23.
Dr. Waseem shared that the new emergency, which will be completed at a cost of Rs20 million, will be a 24-bed facility exclusively reserved for provision of emergency care to critical patients who are brought to the hospital in a state of severe emergency such as victims of heart attack, terrorist activities, and patients brought ton ambulances. All diagnostic tests at this emergency will be done for free. The project has is being completed purely with donations. The old emergency will continue to provide emergency care to walk-in patients.
