KU awards 31 PhD, 84 MPhil degrees

The Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of the University of Karachi (KU) has approved award of 31 PhD, 84 MPhil, and six MS degrees in various disciplines during a recently held meeting.

The ASRB meeting was chaired by KU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. The meeting approved granting MPhil degrees to Osama Fakhruddin Shaikh in Usool-Ud-Din, Sadaf Sajjad and Shabeeh Zehra in agriculture and agribusiness management, Dr Roshan Ali in anatomy, Iftikhar Mubashir and Shah Zaman in applied economics, Arisha Fatima, Rida Naheed, and Uzma Mohsin in biotechnology, Mehwish Sadiq, Hira Sarfaraz, Hira Ejaz and Sadiq Hussain in botany and Syed Zohaib Ahsan Mustafa Shah in chemistry.

Likewise, Nida Ali, Faiza Nazar, Hafiz Nadeem Khan, Muhammad Wasim Qasim, Raza Ali, Habiba Kanwar, Muhammad Abdullah, Waseem Shehzad, and Rabia Ali completed their MPhil in chemistry, Ambreen Akhtar Rathore, Hafiza Fazila Mehdi, and Arfa Khan in clinical psychology, Zahid Raza, Shakaib Un Nabi Siddiqui and Syed Ehsen Zulfiqar in criminology, Seema Idrees in economics, Owais Iqbal Khan in environmental studies, Muhammad Ayaz in European studies, Wajih Ahmed and Muhammad Shumail in geology, Naheed Akram, Nadia Asghar, and Muhammad Shoaib in Islamic learning, Abdul Mateen and Kiran in ISPA, and Muhammad Sameem Kardar, Khush Bakht, and Rabia Aslam in library and information sciences.

Madeeha Khalid, Naveed Arshad, and Mehar Un Nisa completed their MPhil in mass communication, Syed Adnan Hussain, Sara Ali and Syeda Nimrah Batool in mathematics, Ammad ur Rehman in microbiology, Iqra in molecular medicine, Junaid Bashir in nematology, Madiha Hamid and Mohsin Ali in pharmaceutical chemistry, Aftab Ansari, Safia Mehmood Khan, Rizwan Ali, Maryam Askani and Shah Taj in pharmacology, Azeem Uddin Zia and Umeza Mishal in physics, Dr Sana Mahmood, Dr Nasima Zafar, Zain Masood and Muqaddas Jabeen in psychology and Ahsan Imam in public administration.

Others who successfully completed their MPhil degree include Muhammad Nisar, Maryam Naz, Muhammad Tasleem Raza, Allauddin and Muhammad Rizwan in Quran & Sunnah, Hyder Ali and Muhammad Ramzan in Sindhi, Irfan Ghaffar in social work, Safdar and Maryam Naz in sociology, Sayyeda Numrah Bokhari in teachers’ education, Muhammad Ejaz and Muhammad Sajjad in Urdu, Muhammad Hamza, Shahid Ur Rahman and Ubaid Ur Rehman in Usool-Ud-Din, Uzma, Kiran and Abdul Rahim in zoology.

Meanwhile, the ASRB approved PhD degrees for Shahnaz Batool and Syed Ahsan Raza Naqi in Islamic learning, Mirza Faizan Ahmed and Uzma Tabbasum in applied economics, Hafeez Ur Rehman in Arabic, Yousra Sarfaraz in biochemistry, Kiran Rani in botany, Shazia Ishfaq, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Naveed Javed in chemistry, Atia Gohar in chemistry of the HEJ, Noreen Jaffri and Wajeha Zainab in clinical psychology, Misbah Rehman in education, Faisal Ahmed Khan in environmental studies, Faiza Shaikh in food science and technology, Aftab Ahmed Mirza Baig in physical education and sports sciences, Ghulam Nabi in Islamic studies, Zarish in marine biology, Waqas Ali in mass communication, Atteeq Razzak and Huma Bashir in mathematics, Saba in microbiology, Erum Zaheer in pharmaceutical chemistry, Tazeen Hussain in pharmaceutics, Noor ul Ain in pharmacology, Tabinda Salman in proteomics, Syed Shahan Ali Zaidi and Muhammad Farhan in public administration, Nighat Munir in special education and Sidra Zaheer in statistics. The ASRB approved MS degrees for Syeda Faizien Fatima in microbiology, Sababa Khalid in criminology, Taha Mehmood in public administration, amd Sana Niaz, Atif Saeed and Sumera Yasmeen in teachers’ education.
