PESHAWAR: Clarifying the stance of the provincial government for deployment of Rangers in the province, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Tuesday said the geographical location of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was very sensitive because it shares hundreds of kilometers long borders with Federally administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and war-torn Afghanistan.
He said that security of such a long border was not possible without proper deployment of forces, a handout quoted the chief minister as saying. The chief minister said a large number of Frontier Constabulary personnel had been deployed in other provinces. The federal government, he said, despite repeated demands by the province was not ready to repatriate FC troops to the province. He added that other provinces were raising complaints about the presence of the Rangers while the KP government was welcoming the Rangers in the province.
The chief minister said that the KP government was presenting itself for accountability. He further said that the province had not only established a free accountability commission but was also taking steps to make the entity effective.
