Man, daughter killed on resistance

OKARA: A man and his daughter were killed on resistance at Chak Bawa on Monday.

Five dacoits entered the house of Muhammad Amin and tried to loot valuables, which was resisted by the family members. At this, the dacoits opened fire. As a result, Muhammad Amin and his daughter Afzaal Bibi died on the spot while Amin’s son Zubair sustained bullet injuries. The injured was rushed to a hospital. Haveli police have registered a case.

 

Mill ransacked, sugarcane burnt by 40 attackers

OKARA: More than 40 people attacked a sugar mill, damaged its furniture, burnt sugarcane and stole Rs 261,993 here on Monday.

Mill cane department head Muhammad Farooq and other staffers were on duty when over 40 people, including Abdul Ghaffar, Allah Ditta, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Samad, Shahid Mehmood, Ikram Hussain, Zaheer Ahmad, Falak Sher, Akram and Muhammad Rizwan Kamboh, of Chak 29/2R allegedly attacked the mill.

The accused broke furniture, computers and disconnected telephones, besides threatening the staffers. The accused also resorted to aerial firing and made off with Rs 261,993. The mill employees saved their lives by jumping over the boundary wall. Two mill employees Shahadat Ali and Hassan Raza were injured in the attack. Later, the assailants came to the trolley parking area and set heaps of sugarcane on fire. Sadr police have registered a case and started investigation.
