Moin guides Bahawalpur to win over Larkana
KARACHI: Moinuddin slammed a fine unbeaten fifty to guide Bahawalpur to a six-wicket win over Larkana inside two days in their first round Group A fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Grade-II at Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur on Sunday.
Moin struck 61 not out off 106 balls to enable Bahawalpur to achieve the 121-run victory target in 41 overs after losing four wickets. Moin hit five fours and two sixes in his solid knock after Bahawalpur had lost three wickets for only 24.
Adeel Basit extended fine support to Moin before he got run out for 16 which came off 67 balls and had three fours. The duo added 77 runs for the fourth wicket.
Rafay Ahmed then scored 16 not out with three fours.
Left-arm spinner Mohammad Urs got 2-23, for match-figures of 6-47.
Larkana, who had conceded a 64-run lead, were bundled out for 184 in their second innings.
Opener Bilal Irshad hit fine 70 off 121 deliveries. He smacked six fours and a six in his responsible knock.
Bilal scored 56 runs with fellow opener Javed Bhutto (30), who smashed five fours in his 76-ball stay at the crease.
After the opening partnership was broken, wickets kept falling and the whole team was folded in 66.4 overs.
Imranullah Aslam got 4-54 with his leg-spin, ending with impressive figures of 7-58. Pacer Mohammad Imran got 3-52.
Quetta were in deep trouble against Multan at Multan Cricket Stadium. Quetta were reeling at 194-9 in their first innings in response to Multan’s 357-8 declared. They still need 12 runs to avoid a follow-on.
Shoaib Khan struck fine 85 off 152 balls, striking 13 fours and a six. Irfanullah was at the crease on 45 in which he had hit seven fours from 105 deliveries.
International left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar picked 3-25 from 24.2 overs.
Left-arm pacer Majid Ali captured 3-81 in 16 overs. Zia-ul-Haq, left-arm rookie pacer, claimed 2-49 in 16 overs.
Multan had resumed their first innings at 210-6 and declared at 357-8 in 82 overs.
Shahzad Ali, who was batting on 100, went on to score 160 not out, smashing 14 fours and a six. Rizwan Haider scored 47 off 71 deliveries. Gohar Faiz got 3-74.
At Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, Faisalabad set 241 runs target for Dera Murad Jamali when they perished for 172 in their second innings. They had a 68 runs lead.
Dera Murad Jamali are yet to start their chase. Asif Ali hit 66 off 59 balls. Iftikhar Ahmed belted 43. Faheem Ashraf remained not out on 28.
Pacer Zahoor Ahmed, who had got 2-67 in the first innings, clinched 6-47.
In response to Faisalabad’s first innings total of 215, Dera Murad Jamali were bowled out for 147 after resuming at 55-1.
Shahbaz Khan fell for 25 after adding only ten runs to his overnight total.
Paceman Faheem Ashraf was the main destroyer as he ripped through the top order, pocketing 5-57 from 16.4 overs. Mohammad Talha and left-arm spinner Imran Khalid captured two wickets each.
