Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath on Thursday
Says he collected funds but never sent any amount to London; used it for development of Karachi
KARACHI: Presenting his analysis in the programme on Thursday, Shahzeb Khanzada said in his press conference Mustafa Kamal levelled very serious allegations on the Quaid of Muttahida Qaumi Movement. On occasions during the presser his eyes were full of tears.
Mustafa Kamal verified all allegations against the MQM which have been told so far about the party. It was all about the facts which were in the documents of the Scotland Yard and was also about what Sarfaraz Merchant confirmed in our program two days earlier that the Scotland Yard told him that Indian government funded the MQM. Mustafa Kamal said Muhammad Anwar and Tariq Mir had told about MQM’s RAW connections.
Shahzeb Khanzada said Mustafa Kamal disclosed certain things about Altaf Husain which were never told by any MQM leader earlier. He had been very close to Altaf Husain, who liked him and had much love for him. But today when he spoke out it would be proper to say that Mustafa Kamal burst out. He spoke of controversial statements of Altaf Husain and the reasons behind them. Shahzeb Khanzada said some other leaders like Afaq Ahmad and Amir Khan still talk about them. These press conferences, instead of inflicting any damage to the MQM, resulted in way that the same Amir Khan was talking against Mustafa Kamal in the press conference and was defending Altaf Husain. The time will decide how far Mustafa Kamal can succeed in his mission.
Shahzeb Khanzada said according to sources three important persons and Rabita Committee reached London without informing Altaf Husain in the year 2010 with intention to press him to abandon drinking wines and get treatment otherwise they will leave the party. They told Altaf Husain to get treatment as he is not well and the decisions of the party were not being made correctly. The leaders were also suspicious that Altaf Husain was more under the pressure of the organisations of other countries because of his certain habits and requested him to abandon them. They suggested Altaf Husain for rehabilitation and accepting the request he had also joined a rehabilitation centre. After that Anis Qaimkhani, Dr Ishratul Ebad and Mustafa Kamal returned to Pakistan but the affairs continued to worsen and there were cracks in the organisation and continued to widen.
Shahzeb Khanzada said now Mustafa Kamal has returned and many old faces may join him because Mustafa Kamal is popular among voters. With Anis Qaimkhani on his side is very popular among party workers.
Senior analyst Mazhar Abbas said many of the old affiliates of the MQM are not happy with the leadership. They also have basic differences with Altaf Husain but they are not in favour of forming a splinter group. They include Salim Shahzad, Anis Advocate and Raza Haroon and others. Mustafa Kamal and Anis Qaimkhani have been together since long. The organisational problems have increase very much in the MQM since 2013. In January 2015 Altaf Husain delivered a speech against the army. It was told at that time that such speeches were damaging for Altaf Husain and the party. Attempts were made that Altaf Husain’s speeches should be controlled.
Former Nazim Mustafa Kamal said Altaf Husain should seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty. should offer excuses and pity the nation and save lives of innocent children. He said: “It true that I, Ishratul Ebad and Anis Qaimkhani went to London to beg Altagf Husain to get treatment and join rehabilitation centre. The effort made on my desire was joined by Ishratul Ebad, Anis Qaimkhani, Farooq while already present in London were Tariq Mir, Anis Advocate and Muhammad Anwar. I considered Altaf Husain like my father and had gone to London to convince him to get treatment. Altaf Husain listened and had also gone to rehabilitation centre. But later the same was the situation again.
Mustafa Kamal said whatever Altaf Husain was doing at that time was a great insult for us all. He used to make decision with anger and on basis of mood. He used to make a call at 2.00am to inform that he was quitting the leadership. He made a laughing stock of himself by announcing to quit time and again. I never talked against Altaf Husain all the time I was in the MQM.” Mustafa Kamal said in the capacity of Nazim he collected funds. “But never sent it to party leadership in London. Had I sent funds there then no development work could be done in Karachi.”
He said other parties should also speak about jobs for Karachi youth. They should not walk away just after delivering political speeches. Mustafa Kamal said the Establishment is rendering service not damaging the MQM by arresting and killing the MQM workers. He said Altaf Husain is not telling the truth to his people. The MQM workers know it very well what Altaf Husain had been doing for the last twenty years. If Altaf Husain was not instigating and speaking of destroying the nation, I would not have been here.
Mustafa Kamal said the name of Anis Qaimkhani is not included in JIT of the Baldia factory. It is known to everyone in Pakistan wherefrom the militant wing is being run. He said had we planned a conspiracy then a number of people would be standing with us. We did not contact anybody before coming and did not put anyone in trouble. We do not have a plan to spoil the lives of the people.
Mustafa Kamal said he had no contact with Ishratul Ebad since long. We have confidence in Allah and no one would be able to finish our lives without His will. Is it that the people in the MQM are safe? Is there any guarantee that anyone in the MQM and with Altaf Husain will be able to save his life?
Replying to Rahman Malik’s statement that he was living in Dubai at the expenses of RAW, he said the accusers may go on telling lies. He said Rahman Malik was using the matter of funding from India as a bargaining tool with the MQM. Mustafa Kamal said he did not tell that Dr Imran Farooq was murdered by the MQM. He said Mohajir Qaumi Movement was not the agent of RAW.
He said we were civilised people. We were patriots and sane. We were not criminals. The militant wing was being operated from outside the country. All the arrested people gave statement who used to call from outside the country.
He said many documents were recovered from Dr Imran Farooq’s house after his murder. Muhammad Anwar had to admit about the Indian funding when the Scotland Yard put before him the documents one by one. Altaf Husain should have told his workers that he was an agent of the Indian Raw for the last 20 years.
Mustafa Kamal said there have always been weapons at Nine Zero and most of them were licenced. He said the map of Jinnahpur was not correct and was just an allegation, which gave a boost to the MQM to prove it was oppressed.
Mustafa Kamal said he would not contact Pervez Musharraf but would talk to anyone who approached him. He said we won the election as any other party does. He said Imran Khan was not given votes out of love for him but it was out of hatred against the MQM. He said the MQM gave so much trouble to the people in its areas and they reacted.
He prayed that Allah guides Altaf Husain so that he could mend the destruction he has brought to the party. He said it is not possible to run the affairs without getting powers on Union Council level. How can People’s Party usurp the powers of the Nazim?
The MQM should respond to the allegations levelled against it through the media.
Mustafa Kamal said it happened so many times that we used to call the news rooms of the media not to receive Altaf Husain’s call as he would speak such thing that the party would be disgraced.
