Wheat procurement package for farmers

BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab government is making a special wheat procurement package for those wheat growers who are owners of 12 acres or less area.
It was said by Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen while chairing a meeting and later addressing a press conference at the Commissioner Office here on Friday.
The minister said that 100 bags of Bardana per acre instead of 50 bags per acre would be given this year to facilitate the wheat growers. The minister was briefed that 3,127,000 metric tons wheat production was expected in Bahawalpur division this year. He said that the middlemen would not be allowed to exploit the wheat growers. The Punjab food minister also met the representatives of local growers and industrialists to listen their suggestions for better wheat procurement this year.
